Privacy Policy

Pixlo ("the extension," "we," "us") is a Chrome extension that lets you save UI design inspiration from the web, extract its design assets, organize your references, and generate AI-ready prompts. This policy explains exactly what data Pixlo touches and what leaves your device.

1. What Pixlo stores on your device

Everything you create in Pixlo is stored locally in your own browser:

• Screenshots and captures — full-page and component images you save, kept in your browser's IndexedDB.
• Extracted design data — colors, fonts, spacing, components, and metadata (page title, URL, domain, favicon), kept in chrome.storage.local.
• Your organization — collections, tags, favorites, and generated prompts.
• Your settings — theme and feature preferences.

This data lives under your browser profile on your computer. We have no server that receives it, and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage removes it. Exports (PNG, JSON, Markdown, ZIP, PDF) are written only to the download location you choose.

2. What leaves your device

Only two things ever leave your device, and both are optional and user-initiated:

a) Waitlist email (optional)

If you choose to join the waitlist for a future paid tier ("Pixlo Pro"), the email address you type is sent to our database provider, Supabase, and stored in a table named signups.

• What we store: the email you submit, plus a timestamp. Nothing else — no saved designs, no browsing data, no analytics are attached.
• Why: solely to notify you when the paid tier becomes available.
• How it's secured: the credential shipped in the extension is a publishable, insert-only key — it can add a row but cannot read, edit, or delete the list, so the email list cannot be pulled back out through the extension.
• We do not sell, rent, or share this email, or use it for anything other than the waitlist notification.
• Deletion: email Pixxlo@proton.me from the address you signed up with and we will delete it.

b) Bring-your-own-key AI (optional, off by default)

Pixlo generates prompts and design explanations deterministically and offline by default — no network calls, no API key. If you explicitly enable the optional bring-your-own-key AI feature in Settings and supply your own API key (e.g. Anthropic or OpenAI), then — and only then — Pixlo sends the relevant extracted design data for a reference to the provider you chose to produce a refined prompt.

• Your API key is stored locally in your browser settings and is sent only to the provider it belongs to.
• Those requests are governed by that provider's privacy policy and terms.
• This feature is off by default. If you never turn it on, Pixlo makes no external AI calls at all.

Apart from these two optional flows, Pixlo makes no network requests to us or any third party. There is no Pixlo backend that receives your saved designs.

3. What we do NOT do

• We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics.
• We do not track your browsing history or the sites you visit.
• We do not transmit your screenshots or extracted design data anywhere.
• We do not show ads.
• We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
• We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
• We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to Pixlo's single purpose.

4. Permissions, in plain language

• activeTab / host access (<all_urls>) — so you can save inspiration from any site you're viewing. Capture runs only when you click the icon or press the save/select shortcut; Pixlo does not read pages in the background.
• scripting — to run the selection overlay and read the page's computed styles for extraction.
• storage / unlimitedStorage — to keep your (sometimes large) library on your device.
• tabs — to label saves with the page's title/URL/favicon and to open your library.
• downloads — to save the files you export.

None of these permissions are used to send your data off your device.

5. Children

Pixlo is a professional design tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only personal data we can receive is an email voluntarily submitted to the waitlist.

6. Data retention & deletion

• On-device data stays until you delete it, clear the extension's storage, or uninstall Pixlo.
• Waitlist email is retained until the paid tier launches and its notifications are sent, or until you request deletion. To delete it, email Pixxlo@proton.me.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the extension's release notes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
